going to try to keep this going
I haven't posted in a long time, but I'm going to "attempt" to keep it up. Right now I'm working on my niece's birthday present. Hopefully, I can get at least one quilt a year for the nieces and nephews...Sometimes it just hurts too much to sew...

I'm Baaaaaaaaaaaack
Finally figured out how to sign into this account again. Obviously I didn't move *all* my files to the new laptop!

Sorry I've been out of touch
Sorry I've been out of touch for so long. I didn't realize it's been over 6 months since my last post. Time flies when you're having fun (or working your tushie off). Actually, I wish I was working my tush off...there's more real estate there than I care for.
Talk to everyone soon!

Beren James Lee
I know I haven't blogged in awhile. There's just been too much going on. My brother finally got rid of his tramp of a wife. This woman needs some serious psychological help and I only hope that she doesn't damage her children too much.
That being said, Roger and I did get a "nice" surprise in the mail this week. There is a wonderful group out there called Missing Angel Foundation who has a program called "Angel Pics". These folks take the photos that parents of stillborn children have and retouches them. Often these pictures are the only things that parents have of their 'angels' and unfortunately, as was in Beren's case, the babies show the trauma of birth. I could look at the photos with the eyes of his mother and see how beautifully perfect he was, but most folks looking at the photos couldn't. WEll, thanks to that group, I can show you Beren. I love his father very much, but this little guy was and is the enduring love of my life.

Eyes of Inspiration
Okay, so the dragon has an official name -- Inspiration. My creativity is inspired and he's going to go in the music room, hopefully to inspire Roger. I have to confess that I cheated a bit on his eye and nostril. They are wonder-undered together and I'll hand stitch them down.
A friend of mine commented that she liked the black background better. WEll, me too, but I guess it's Roger that would have to live with it and he hated it, so...
Well, here's the newest photo...I can't really sew anything else down at this point because I need to cut the mane and beard first. I'm also including a photo of my "assistant" Doc -- that hallway is where I have my pattern posted and if he wasn't there, I might make some kind of mistake...

Flame ON!
Okay, I've been moving forward on the dragon project. You know how sometimes something just grabs hold of you and if you don't do anything about it, it's an almost painful feeling? That's how this dragon is. I don't think I posted here that Roger really did NOT like the idea of a black background. He went with me and picked out a solid mango fabric. Which I really did NOT like.
Life is a compromise, though, isn't it? Love even moreso. I made a trip on Friday to a LQS and picked out a beautiful Hancock multi-color that had the mango, but also a few other colors for some movement. I don't LOVE it, but I don't hate it -- same for Roger -- great compromise. Actually, I love the fabric and will definitely be going back for some more of it--I think it would be great for one of the girls' Christmas quilts.
Also, at another LQS, I found the perfect fabric for the flames. I thought I had it before, but when I saw this, WOW. The only thing that irritates me is when I get a little attitude for asking for only 1/4 yard. It's not really a color I can see myself using a lot of, you know?
Anyway, here's a picture of what I've got together over the weekend. :) I have basted down the head and neck, but the flames and gums are down tight. I'll finish the teeth tonight, I hope. The bases are down, but they need the rest.
Hope you guys like it!
